Has anyone else ever chosen a career and then been miserable in it? Only me? I didn’t think so. And while I truly enjoyed many aspects of what I did in my first career, what I didn’t love was the lack of freedom to take ownership and build a business that added value to people’s lives. However, it did lead me to a turning point that opened doors to where I am today.
Here’s the synopsis. When I was at college, I didn’t have anyone giving me guidance about what factors to weigh when deciding what to study or what career to pursue. I ended up earning a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in construction management. Clearly, that didn’t work out. I worked in the construction industry for almost 10 years, then took some time off to decide how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Enter finance.
Why Finance?
I’ve always had a fascination with the market and had personal investments that I researched and took the time to follow. What started as a hobby of building my portfolio and investigating stocks left me wondering if I could do this as a job. I loved the idea of using my passion to help others with managing their money and taking the burden of investing off their shoulders. I started working at a large broker/dealer and was heavily influenced by Michael Kitces and his financial planning focus. I decided to become an independent Registered Investment Advisor and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Chartered Financial Consultant®, and Chartered Life Underwriter® designations so I could help others plan for their future and work toward financial independence.
For many people, finances are a major cause of stress. It’s hard to find the time and resources to build and manage your wealth confidently. It can be even harder to know how to integrate your family’s values, financial circumstances, and life goals into your financial plan and stay on track for the long term. That’s what I now get to do for my clients every day and I love just about every second of it.
What I Do Today
In 2018, I founded Envision Wealth Planners with the mission of putting my clients first and partnering with them to build effective strategies to pursue their goals and overcome financial challenges. By taking care of the intricacies of financial planning and investing, my clients can devote more time to their loved ones and the things that matter most to them.
I enjoy having a job that allows me to continually grow and improve and then use what I’ve learned to better the lives of others. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the relief and joy on peoples’ faces when they see that they are on track and they are getting closer to their dreams becoming a reality.
The Next Step
